The Karnischer Höhenweg follows the long border ridge between Austria and Italy, with wide Dolomite views and a chain of welcoming huts. This five-night section connects Sillianer Hütte to Wolayersee-Hütte through open grass ridges, old military paths and pale limestone terrain.
The walking is less technical than the highest glaciated routes, but the individual huts still fill independently. One cancellation can turn an incomplete itinerary into a bookable traverse.
